A quick catch up with Jack G before his Kickass Classical ride!

16 May 2019

Jack G is gracing our ears and bodies with a Kickass Classical ride next week and we cannot wait! But before that, let's get to know him a little bit better: his story, where he is when he's not at Boom and his secret musical talent!

Where were you born/Where did you grow up?

I was born in Newcastle, but I moved quite a lot growing up. Mainly between the North East and Scotland. I’ve been in London for 10 years now and haven’t looked back.

When you’re not at BOOM, where are you?

Ringing doorbells and giving it full quiff and smiles in ‘The Book of Mormon’ at the Prince of Wales Theatre. You should absolutely 100% go and see it!

What’s your life motto?

It’s actually a quote I have on my vision board.

“I began to realise how important it was to be enthusiastic in life. If you’re interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good”

Friday night/Sunday afternoon - where can we find you?

Friday night is a work night for me, so I’ll be on that stage living my best life. Sunday I will most likely be in the pub/on a sofa or painting a wall or 2. I’ve also got a little Instagram interior design blog on the side @thehouse__thatjackbuilt!

Can you remember your first BOOM experience? Where/When/Who?

Yes! It was Friday night, Holborn with Duncan. I was not ready. Safe to say he killed us all off.

Piece of advice for first time boomers?

It can be so intimidating to go into a spin class. I totally get. Trust me, every single person in that room has been where you are now. You’ve got nothing loose and so much to gain! Just throw yourself in.

How did you come up with this theme ride? It's never been done before!

Million dollar question. So it was autumn last year and Palladio Allegretto came on my Spotify and I just started bopping my head to the beat (life of a spin instructor) and then the idea came to me. It’s taken a while to get the playlist right, but I think I’ve nailed it!

Do you play any instruments yourself?

I play the Saxophone, although I haven't picked it up in a few years. At school I played the Tenor saxophone in the big band and the alto saxophone in the orchestra/sax group and others. I think the first thing I learned to play was Moon River.

If you can have any 4 people riding in your upcoming Kickass Classical ride, living or dead, who would they be?

Hans Zimmer, Ludovico Einaudi, Lady Gaga and Olivia Coleman.

Checkout the Boom Cycle timetable for our latest themed rides. See in you in a studio soon.
